Edmonton workshop series to make learning social skills fun

Kids can benefit from developing their social skills, and Edmonton's Peter Pan Child Care Centres will be offering a group setting where they can both gain and put these abilities into practice.

The occupational therapists who work with Growing Changes will be facilitating the group, which is for verbal learners from ages five to seven, and COVID prevention measures will be adhered to. It can benefit kids who struggle in social situations, and it will also be lots of fun.

The sessions will be focused on aspects of socialization that do not always come naturally to a child. Taking turns, emotional regulation, staying on task and making a group plan are all on the agenda, as is collaborative play, where they can share their views with others and listen to their ideas. There will be five sessions, and the registration fee for the series is $385.

At the end of each class, the learners will go home with handouts for their parents so they can find out more about what their child is learning about. A company that prepares Letterheads will also be able to supply these types of materials.

The start date for this workshop series will be July 5th, and it will wrap up on July 9th. The location for the sessions will be 126 Millbourne Mall.
