Edmonton shows strong support for Fringe festival
The Edmonton Fringe Festival “SupercaliFRINGEilistic “ has once again drawn in the crowds and enjoyed another successful year.
This was the 34th run for the popular 11-day long event, and it proved to be its most well attended to date, with 121,835 tickets sold.
There were over 1,600 different performances as part of its 203 indoor shows. According to the festival’s director, many of the venues were sold out, which he feels was fantastic news, as it meant that every artist who performed was able to enjoy a piece of its success and become better known to the public. The theatrical acts ranged from drama to comedy as well as music, with some coming from a long distance to be involved. Artistic director Jeff Haslam noted that he was happy that it gave the public an extra reason to pay a visit to a part of the city that may not be as well known as the rest.
