Edmonton sets schedule for swaps

Finding new ways to use old items can be both budget and environmentally friendly, and an Edmonton series will provide the opportunity to do so.

The city’s Reuse Centre wants the community to know about its series of Swap Events, and everyone is invited to save the dates for these activities. Each will have its own theme, and will run for five hours.

The schedule kicks off with a back to school day, and those interested in swapping non-electronic school supplies including lunch boxes, clothing and water bottles will be able to do so. September’s session will see swappers exchange reading materials, but it has been requested that textbooks and encyclopedias not be brought. Those looking for a spooky but thrifty Halloween costume may want to check out October's instalment, while November's will be dedicated to toys. Anyone who has items to drop off early may do so, but it has been asked they clearly label their contributions as being for the swap. There is no fee being charged to attend, but donations will be welcome.

Not-for-profit organizations that host activities often operate on a tight budget. Print shops can offer budget-friendly promotional materials to spread the word of such events.

The Reuse Centre, located at 6835 83 Street, will offer its August Swap on August 16th. More details about the rest of its schedule can be found on the City of Edmonton website.
