Edmonton schedules Seedy Saturday celebration

The Seedy Saturday movement celebrates the joys of collecting, storing, swapping and starting seeds, and Edmonton will be hosting its 4th instalment of this annual event.

Mid-March will seed Sakaw School serve as the venue for the 4th annual Seedy Saturday activity planned by the Millhurst Community League. It will offer an opportunity to shop from a variety of horticultural vendors, and there will be other fun on the agenda as well.

The activity will bring together representatives from various area garden clubs and plant societies, and there will be rare plants and heirloom seeds to explore. Everyone can share tips and get to know their fellow gardeners, and a seed swap has been scheduled. This will be paired with a pop-up crafters’ market, and the proceeds from the day will be donated to Sakaw Gardens.

The planners of the day explained that there may still be vendor spaces available, and local makers and other small businesses that would like to join the fun are invited to submit their applications. Companies that often take part in pop-up events may choose to have canopies, backdrops, drapes, tablecloths and other reusable both decor prepared to order by a local printing services company.

Millhurst Community League will be celebrating Seedy Saturday on March 15th. It will be open from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.
