Edmonton residents invited to volunteer fair

Volunteering provides a way for people to give back to their communities, meet new people, gain work experience, and much more. An event has been planned for Edmonton that will give those who take part a chance to learn more about the volunteer opportunities that exist in their local area and how they can get involved.

The ASSIST Volunteer Fair will include 20 different organizations under one roof, all of which are looking for volunteers to help them in their work. These include the Canadian Red Cross, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, The Good Samaritan Society, CCI_LEX and more.

The afternoon is being sponsored and organized through the cooperation of Alberta Labour, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the ASSIST Community Services Centre. Presentation Folders that contain information about each of the organizations taking part can be prepared for each person who attends a function such as this.

There is no charge to take part in the event, which will take place on October 15th from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the lobby of the Clareview Community Recreation Centre. The centre is located at 3804 139 Avenue Northwest in Edmonton.

Anyone who would like to register or find out further details about the afternoon’s activities and which organizations will be taking part can do so by visiting its Eventbrite page or by calling 780-429-3111.
