Edmonton residents invited to show their support for organ and tissue transplant
Spring has arrived, and in Edmonton, that means that it’s time once again for the Transplant Trot.
The event will celebrate the lives of those who have undergone organ or tissue transplant, and also raise awareness about how these procedures can save lives and the importance of donation.
It will begin at Sir Wilfred Laurier Park at 9:30 am with a series of warm-up exercises, then the run and walk will begin. Participants can take part in the 3km walk, the 5km run or walk or the 10km run. Banners, signage and other materials that are needed to make a day like this a success can be designed and printed by a print company.
The registration fee for the day is $40, and this can be paid online. Race kits can be picked up at the Running Room located at 109 Street on Thursday, May 19 or Friday, May 20. All of the money raised from the event will go towards helping support those who have had a tissue or organ transplant and making the public more aware of the need for donor organs and tissue.
Further details about the 2016 Transplant Trot, which will take place at 13221-Buena Vista Road on May 21, can be found on the event’s website. It also contains more information about the cause.
