Edmonton raises a glass to ale lovers

Edmonton beer drinkers are invited to show their support for local craft breweries at an upcoming event.

Edmonton Beer Geeks Anonymous (EBGA) will be hosting its EBGA Real Ale Festival, where they will shine a spotlight on naturally conditioned beer that has been prepared using methods that do not involve pasteurization. It will take place out of doors in the fresh air, and according to the group, this will provide the best venue to enjoy the beverages that will be on tap.

Admission price for the festival will be $30, and each guest will receive a wrist band that will allow them to reenter the event, two beer tokens, one specially designed Real Ale Festival 2016 glass to take home with them and a ticket for the door prize drawing. Those who wish to purchase additional samples of the ales will be able to do so. A company that designs custom Drinkware will be able to provide items for this type of event.

The ale will flow until the firkins are empty, so they are available on the basis of first come, first served. Food, consisting of fare that is traditional in pubs, will be available for those who wish to buy a snack.

The Real Ale Festival will take place on September 10 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Richie Community Centre. Further details, and an opportunity to purchase tickets, can be found via the festival’s Eventbrite listing.
