Edmonton event to light up nights
As another winter gets underway, Edmonton will be welcoming the season with an event filled with light and colour.
The annual Winter Whyte Light Up will get the holiday season off to a festive start in the Old Strathcona neighbourhood. The opening night for the festivities will see the switch thrown on the lights, and everyone will be able to warm up with a cup of hot chocolate. Carollers and other performers will supply live entertainment, and there will be giveaways of a variety of Old Strathcona branded items. The light installations will be created by Edmonton-based artists, and many of the displays will be set up in Wilbert McIntyre Park.
As well as the outdoor activities, there will be additional fun set up indoors. These venues will offer kids crafting stations, as well as ticketed shows. A decorated streetcar will be on hand for photo ops and short rides, and parking will be available nearby.
In previous years, the organizers of the celebration made arrangements to accept monetary and gift in kind donations for its charities of choice. The names of this year’s partners will be released at a later date. Poster printing is often used to promote events like this.
