Feline fanciers from all over recently took part in the second annual Edmonton International Cat Show.
The event attracted so much attention that the mayor of the city declared the day it was held to be ‘Caturday’. It took place at the NAIT gymnasium, and included an international cat video contest, a photo beauty pageant, presentations by special guest speakers, and a cat-themed café and other activities.
Along with this, Pudge – who is a four-year-old exotic short-hair cat who has gained fame and has her own store, with a range of products that feature her likeness – was on hand for those who wished to have their pictures taken with her. The goal of the day was to raise money for local animal rescue organizations such as the SAFE Team Rescue, the Humane Society and Little Cat Lost. Organizers reported that $20,000 was collected, which is more than twice the $8,000 that was raised last year. There were also cats on hand that were available for adoption, and many were able to find permanent homes.
With the event being so popular, plans are already being made to find a bigger venue for it for next year.Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products
