Edmonton botanic gardens to light up the early winter night
The winter holiday season can be a stressful time of year, but Edmonton’s Devonian Botanic Gardens will be offering a way for people to find a peaceful respite.
The park will be hosting Luminaria, where the public can enjoy strolling through the Kurimoto Japanese Gardens lit by hundreds of luminaires and candles. There will also be a bonfire, singing provided by an acapella group, and snow sprites in ice sculptures. Those who have lost a loved one can even honor them by lighting a candle on Memory Lane. The Snowlight Maze will be open for the kids to explore, and hot food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Anyone who still has some holiday shopping to do will be able to browse through the Shop in the Garden and the Crafters Workshop to find just the right gift or a souvenir of their tine at the gardens. Photos of an event like this can be used on postcards and other items that are sold in the gift shop.
Luminaria will take place at the Devonian Botanic gardens on December 3 and 4. Tickets are $13.50 for adults, $9.75 for seniors and FOG members, and $6.25 for children between the ages of 7 to 12. Children under 6 will be admitted free of charge. Passes must be purchased in advance of the event, and are available through its website.
