Edmonton asked to take part in fundraiser

Residents of Edmonton have been asked to get behind an event that will raise awareness about colorectal cancer, and as it will be a virtual fundraiser, everyone can participate safely.

The annual Bumrun Edmonton event will be a virtual 5k, and the participants can choose to participate from wherever they wish. When they do, they will be raising money for colon cancer research and patient support. As this is the third most common form of cancer in Canada, the organizers are hoping for a huge turnout.

Anyone who would like to get involved can do so on their own, but they can also take part in a group. Once sign up has been completed, posters and other promotional products will be sent out to the registrants. These include a lanyard, gloves and a certificate, along with a poster to hold up in photographs taken along the way, which can then be uploaded to social media to help raise awareness.

On the day of the event, there will be an online warm up to help kick off the activity. When they are finished, runners and walkers can log their time online through a link that will be provided.

The virtual Bumrun Edmonton fundraiser will run until April 25th, and those who would like to take part can get their miles in either before or on that date. Its website is the place to go to register or to get further details.
