A special house in Edmonton plays host to a grand celebration

When children and their families have to travel to Edmonton for medical treatment, they can find support and a place to stay at Ronald McDonald House. At the organization’s recent block party, it celebrated everything it does to help.

According to Audrey Evans, who is one of the original founding members of the program and was on hand for the party, there are 322 Ronald McDonald houses in 52 countries around the world – and Edmonton’s is one of the best.

Many people who have made use of its assistance, or who just wanted to help, came out to volunteer. There was a barbeque, treats, games, and a special work of art was unveiled. It was made up of characters modeled after community members who have lent their support. A sister piece will be revealed next year.

Having a child in the hospital can be a very stressful time for parents and siblings, and the house offers support, programming, and a quiet place to escape from the stress of the health care environment. While there, they are made welcome by staff and volunteers.

A party such as this not only celebrates everything the house does; it also lets the public know that they are there should they need them. Such a special event calls for custom-made decorations. A Print company can provide these, as well as other items like Invitations, signage, and informational Brochures.
