Werribee to receive funding boost

May’s state budget announcement indicated funding to benefit Werribee in the areas of education, healthcare, transport and infrastructure.

The temporarily named Lollypop Creek Primary School in Werribee is one of 13 new schools slated to be built across Victoria as part of a $492 million investment set aside in this year’s budget. The school is due to open in 2023 and Forms part of the government’s commitment to open 100 new schools across the state by 2026.

In the health sector, Werribee Mercy Hospital is set to benefit from funding for service and capital planning to determine the future requirements of its emergency department as part of a redevelopment effort. It is one of five hospitals that will share in $5.7 million in funding.

Werribee commuters will be interested in the planned upgrade of the Wyndham Vale rail corridor to provide for the future operation of higher capacity trains. These could include the nine-car VLocity trains already in service elsewhere in the Victorian network. Werribee MP Tim Pallas said that the longer trains would increase capacity by up to 50 per cent in peak periods. A total of $94 million has been committed for the upgrade, which includes parallel work for the Melton rail corridor.

Werribee infrastructure is due to benefit from investment to the tune of $10.284 million for early works at the Ison Road rail overpass. Flyer printing is sometimes used to update residents of investment and improvements like this in a local area.
