The lighting spectacular attracted in excess of 28,000 people into the city during its more-than-a-week-long staging earlier this year at Wyndham Park, with highlights including colour-drenched tree and native creatures that glowed in the dark, as well as illuminated works that put the spotlight on the parkland's natural beauty.
The 2023 edition will be part of a refreshed programme of community events being put together by Wyndham Council, according to Councillor Marcel Mahfoud, who added:
“In addition to LIT we will be delivering new, major arts and cultural events designed for all ages to enjoy and that celebrate what makes our region so special.”
Mahfoud said local businesses and the evening economy gained support from events such as LIT, and it was important to continually review and update the calendar of events scheduled. It currently also features a re-imagined programme, Pet Adoption Day, which began in June and saw new homes found for 60 pets.
According to the councillor, pet ownership was an important focus of the council which intends to continue providing rehousing activities and pet education.
Flyer printing and media coverage often help to promote the city's community events held throughout the year.
Wyndham City will be adding more events to its community events calendar as the year progresses, with details to be posted on its website.
