Werribee Open Range Zoo reopens

Parents looking for holiday activities for their children will be pleased to know that Werribee Open Range Zoo is once again open, albeit with restrictions.

The popular zoo, which is well known for its African theme, is home to numerous African animals such as giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, monkeys, lions and rhinos. The 200-hectare property provides visitors a unique safari opportunity where they get to observe the animals roaming freely in the recreated African Savannah.

The zoo also houses animals from Australia, North America and Asia providing visitors an exciting and educational day out.

Covid-19 restrictions are in place and everyone wanting to visit the zoo, including babies, must purchase a ticket online prior to arrival. Zoo Members are able to access their free tickets by following the steps online and entering their membership number.

Numbers are limited to 1,000 people per day, which creates an almost private zoo experience for visitors and ensures that social distancing is possible. Encounters and keeper talks will not take place in order to prevent staff and visitors gathering in clusters, however, the popular safari bus is back. Numbers per trip will be limited, so visitors may need to exercise patience while waiting to board.

Zoos may utilise graphic design to advertise their attractions and offer visitors an opportunity to participate in fighting the extinction of wildlife. The Werribee Open Range Zoo is open from 9am to 5pm daily and tickets must be booked on their website.
