Ten year plan to boost sporting facilities supported

People of all ages from Werribee and throughout the City of Wyndham stand to benefit from Council's recent adoption of the Wyndham Vale North Reserve master plan.

The decade-long development plan will see the construction of three new cricket nets, two cricket ovals, three soccer pitches and the provision of exercise equipment to be enjoyed by all ages.

The community pavilion is also set to be upgraded to incorporate comfortable, modern change room facilities for both officials and players. Flyer printing is often undertaken to inform locals when new facilities such as these are made available.

City of Wyndham Sports Development portfolio holder, Peter Maynard said the plan reflected results from a call for community feedback during a consultation period last year, adding:

“We are upgrading this reserve for soccer and cricket facilities in line with the Wyndham Sports Strategy 2045, which community members also contributed to.”

In addition, he said Council will also be including the establishment of bike racks as well as increasing the number of indigenous trees growing on the site, both of which were community-initiated ideas.

The provision of top quality sporting facilities throughout the Wyndham municipality is considered by Council as a necessity in an area that has a strong sporting community. Maynard said the planned upgrades will ensure the area's cricket and soccer teams will be able to thrive while the play equipment will encourage kids and their families to be active and adventurous.
