Redevelopment broadens retail offering for Wyndham shoppers

Work has begun on the $17m redevelopment of the Hoppers Crossing shopping centre.

The upgrade project at the centre, which services residents throughout the City of Wyndham including Werribee, will see the former Target store located on the corner of Old Geelong and Morris roads stripped to its base to allow the existing building to be extended and house increased retail outlets.

Centre Manager at nearby Pacific Werribee Jonathan Codman said improved fresh food outlets would be among 20 extra specialty stores and a new 4,000sqm Coles at the Hoppers Crossing shopping centre.

He said improved access will also be available once work is complete, with more than 1,000 extra car spaces. The centre will also host a new entry point on its eastern side, while bus and train visitors will continue to gain entry through the western doors.

The Pacific Group of Companies owns both the Hoppers Crossing shopping centre and Pacific Werribee.

Major promotions, including the distribution of Flyers and Catalogues, are expected to mark the opening of a new-look Target store, which is planned for Pacific Werribee.

Codman said the Target department store had been the anchor tenant at the Hoppers Crossing shopping centre until its closure in August in preparation for its debut at Pacific Werribee, which is currently undergoing works on stage three of a $370m redevelopment.
