The new dual pavilion structure will offer change rooms, a community room, officials facilities and a canteen and spacious kitchen, as well as three accessible toilet and shower amenity rooms. The park’s four soccer pitches serve as home ground for the Werribee City Soccer Club, as well as providing facilities for community and school groups. Flyer printing is a common way to promote the activities of community groups and sports clubs like this.
Construction for the project commenced in July 2020 and is being approached in two phases. Wyndham Council is providing $2.8 million in funding towards the overall bill, with the Victorian Government making up the remaining $1 million. Pointing out that the current redevelopment is the fifth leg of a masterplan for the reserve area, which also includes a tennis pavilion and a sports oval, Councillor Peter Maynard said:
“As our population continues to grow at a rapid rate, it’s important that our community facilities keep pace.”
It is hoped that the masterplan for Galvin Park will boost sport participation by providing an upgraded sports hub for the local area. The park will be accessible for people with a disability.
