City centre park set to host top playground

The new-look Wyndham Park located in the city centre of Werribee is set to re-open to the public in early 2020.

Wyndham City Councillor Mia Shaw said the location will soon host one of the western suburb’s best playgrounds with a feature being an 11-metre tall play tower.

Promoting adventure, the play area enjoys a serene setting near the Werribee River and according to the councillor, work on the nature play sector is also moving along well. She said that when complete, the area would encourage children to embrace the natural surroundings and play outdoors, adding:

“This section of the park will feature a cubby house amongst the trees, climbing frames, a sandpit and a really fun waterplay section – a great maze of waterways where kids can control the flow of the water with switches, gates, and a water wheel.”

Prior to its expected completion date in early 2020, the project will also see the installation of a public artwork called Ebb and Flow, which is being mounted to reflect the natural environment and history of Wyndham Park as it relates to the Werribee River.

Local parks such as this are popular local attractions featured in promotional brochure printing to entice visitors.

New turf, a toilet block, boardwalks, plants and trees, improved lighting, viewing areas, improved cycling access, new pathways, a shelter, barbecues, rest areas, an events lawn and seating have all been incorporated in the design.
