Before the Australian election, the Coalition promised an additional 500 parking spaces at the Narre Warrn and Melinda Park railway stations. However, it now looks like that promise will not be fulfilled. Currently the state government says that 50 extra spaces will be provided to the Merinda Park station however, they are unsure of how many spaces they can give Narre Warren.
Before the election the Liberal Party employed the services of Print companies so that they could put into action an advertising campaign that described their parking promises - the advertising campaign was widespread. The party has promised voters that $600,000 would be allocated for 500 more car parks at these two railway stations.
This promise was made after the government has funded 370 spaces at the Miranda Park station. These spaces are now under construction. The additional 500 spaces are not going to be built anytime soon. While the current government claims that the spaces being built will be enough for now, the Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley believes that this situation is yet another broken promise made by the government.
Questions to the government about the deadline for the additional 500 spaces have not received a response. This means that the upgrades to the railway stations are not likely to happen in the near future. Those who feel as though promises made by the Coalition marketing campaign are not being lived up to can voice their concerns by writing to the council or the government.Get a Free Quote for Print
