Moira Watson is a teacher at the kindergarten and had been hoping to organise an event like this but costs were just too high before they received the money. She explains:
“The win is a godsend for us. We really wanted to give the children the experience of being able to pat, feed and cuddle all of their favourite farm animals, but the cost was proving to be quite a challenge."
The kindergarten is for three-year-olds, so does not receive any financial help from the government. Funds for this kind of event therefore have to be raised and this can be challenging. This time, the Berwick Leader’s Local Grants program has been able to provide the children with this wonderful and educational experience but funds for operating costs often have to be raised in other ways.
Organisations like this often hold fundraising events to try to raise money, using such methods as poster printing and leaflet printing to let people know what is taking place and how they can get involved.
Those interested in helping the kindergarten, or those like it in nearby areas such as Narre Warren, should look out for printed materials about upcoming events.
