New look town centre a step closer to reality

Work on the first stage of the Endeavour Hills shopping and community hub revitalisation project has received the thumbs up from city’s councillors, community members and the Mayor.

The delegation, which included representatives from Narre Warren and surrounding areas, met this month for an onsite celebration and inspection of the works which, at a cost of $1.1m, represent the start of a major revitalisation project under the Endeavour Hills Community Precinct Masterplan.

Mayor Sam Aziz said that, when complete, the works will benefit everyone in the busy precinct including businesses, visitors and residents, as well as community facilities in the area.

He said the revitalisation programme targets the well-used precinct adjacent to the Endeavour Hills Shopping Centre, which includes the library, skate park, neighbourhood centre and leisure centre.

The current development focus is on stage one, which involves the establishment of a town square together with a kiosk that Mayor Aziz predicts will become a vibrant, happening place for people of all ages. It will be accompanied by shared path cyclists/pedestrian access.

Scheduled for completion in a few months, the Stage One transformation will not only provide a new focus for promotional Holiday Cards and Postcards but, according to the Mayor, will improve access and safety for all visitors.

He added the next stage of the Masterplan will target the skate precinct, improved bicycle paths and pedestrian links, and landscaping to enhance the environment.
