Narre Warren to offer free mindfulness sessions

Three centres in the City of Casey are offering residents the opportunity to learn meditation techniques and mindfulness at free monthly guided meditation sessions.

In today’s increasingly busy lifestyles, it is important to take some time out to relax. The 45-minute guided meditation sessions will give participants the opportunity to just ’be’ rather than ‘do’, leaving them feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

The practice of mindfulness has been growing in popularity and research has shown it to have beneficial effects on various health problems including anxiety, depression, stress, obesity and low energy levels. To be mindful is to pay attention to the present, being curious, open and non-judgemental.

Meditation helps to improve mindfulness, so that paying attention becomes a natural part of everyday life. Being mindful helps to improve concentration, creativity and productivity, and increases empathy and connectedness.

Full Moon Meditation sessions will be held at Casey Aquatic and Recreation Centre in Narre Warren, Casey Recreation and Aquatic Centre in Cranbourne East and Endeavour Hills Leisure Centre on Friday evenings throughout the month. Bookings can be made online through Trybooking.

As the sessions will rotate through the different venues from week to week, participants should check which venue they will be attending. Leisure centres often use brochure printing and poster printing to let visitors know about upcoming and ongoing events and classes.
