The south-east Melbourne LGA of Casey, including the suburb of Narre Warren, continues to be one of the most significant growth corridors in Australia.
Bureau of Statistics estimates reveal five of Australia’s fastest growing municipalities are in Melbourne. In 2011-12, the Melbourne population increased by 77,242 people, to reach just under 4.25 million.
Sydney has been overtaken by Perth as Australia’s second fastest growing city. Perth population has swelled to almost 1.9 million, an increase of 3.6 per cent. The Bureau estimates that the Australian population reached 23 million at the beginning of May 2013.
For 11 years Melbourne has led national growth, during which time the population of the city grew by almost a quarter. The challenge lies in dealing with an overburdened infrastructure designed to support a much smaller population. Suburbs such as Narre Warren are feeling the strain, as the council attempts to balance population growth, economic opportunity, transport and public facility.
On the plus side, it is an exciting time for service industries, such as Print companies, as they cater to an increasingly diverse and multicultural population made up of new arrivals from all corners of the globe.
Many of the problems faced in urban areas can be overcome by forward thinking and planning with population growth in mind. The challenge can be met by individuals, government and focus groups. Banner printing, flyer printing and other related Print company advertising materials are great ways to draw attention to the important future needs of the local area.
