Construction of the $125m Bunjil Place development at Narre Warren, Victoria has been awarded to Brookfield Multiplex Constructions Pty Ltd.
In confirming the appointment, Mayor of City of Casey Cr. Sam Aziz said finalisation of the contractor for the project marked a significant milestone in it reaching fruition within the next two years.
Bunjil Place is among Australian local government’s largest projects.
Mayor Aziz said the unique facility will provide access to cultural and arts venues, and will feature Council offices, along with a Civic Centre, 800-seat regional theatre, community library with meeting rooms, regional art gallery and activated community plaza.
He said Brookfield Multiplex had an excellent reputation for top-tier construction work, including vast experience with building large-scale infrastructure and property projects in Australia and abroad.
Works already completed by the leading international contractor include the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds and iconic Federation Square, which have since appeared as major tourist attractions on Postcards and Brochures promoting the destination.
Managing Director of Brookfield Multiplex Graham Cottam said that undertaking the landmark Bunjil Place project for the City of Casey was a real thrill and he looked forward to making the distinctive design a reality for the local community.
