The new food and shopping district developing around the railway station at Moorabbin, Victoria, has sparked renewed interest from residents and visitors.
In a joint venture between the Victorian Government, private industry and Kingston Council, the Moorabbin Junction is being transformed.
The latest innovation to showcase the new-look precinct is the creation of a council website, which lists outlets and is aimed at encouraging locals to shop and dine in the developing hub.
The website has info on more than 30 top retail spots, ranging from new bars and cafes to an artisan bakery and craft stores.
Among the latest businesses to be showcased on the site were the Asiatte Asian restaurant, Life Hub, Favourite Dumplings and Noodles, and Cochrances Health and Fitness plus Iyer Coffee Co.
Mayor Geoff Gledhill said Moorabbin Junction had been injected with new life as a result of businesses starting up, improved public transport, a thriving restaurant and arts scene and new apartment living.
He said there were many hidden gems just waiting to be discovered within the city centre. These included an artisan sourdough bread specialist and the City Hall lounge.
An upgrade to the Station Street bus terminal at Moorabbin Junction has already been finalised, and work has also begun on the construction of a 124-dwelling complex in the same street.
