Nominations have now opened for deserving applicants for next year's 2021 Kingston Woman of the Year Award. The award, which was first held in 2019, has women celebrating their individual achievements within the community at its core, according to CEO of Kingston Julie Reid, who added:
“These are women who make incredible contributions to their community every day, are passionate and extraordinarily devoted to what they do.”
Reid said those nominated should be women who are leaders within their respective fields, who are both inspirational and, through personal and professional achievements, have made a significant impact in the community.
The four major categories for nominations are Success in STEM, Inspiring Innovation, Excelling in Sport and Arts and the top award of Courageous Commitment, which targets dedicated women who have an important effect on the community's sustainability, safety, wellbeing and health through fundraising, campaigning, thought-leadership and advocacy.
Last year's Woman of the Year June Rea said as the recipient of the major award, she had felt very humbled, particularly when considering the outstanding nominees that she was up against. She encouraged deserving women to nominate for the 2021 awards.
Major awards such as this often attract great publicity through media and industry brochure printing campaigns.
Nominations close on November 30, with the announcement of winners scheduled for March 5, 2021.
