Moorabbin book lovers to attend evening with award-winning author

Book lovers in Moorabbin have a unique opportunity to get up close with award-winning author Alice Pung, as she speaks about her latest novel “One Hundred Days”.

Organised as part of the 2021 Melbourne Writer’s Festival Local Libraries Program, Pung will be joining fellow author and critic Giselle Au-Nhien Nguyen for a conversation at the Hawthorn Arts Centre.

Born in the nearby Melbournian suburb of Footscray, Pung was named after the character in Lewis Carrol’s Alice in Wonderland. When Pung’s father moved to Australia from Cambodia, he considered his new life to be a wonderland and named her accordingly. After releasing her debut novel in 2006, Pung has gone on to win multiple awards and is currently the Artist in Residence at Melbourne University. Author events and workshops such as these can benefit from flyer printing to help promote key details to prospective attendees.

Pung’s newest book, One Hundred Days is described as:

“A fractured fairytale about class, family and love.”

Released in June this year, the book follows the story of a young 16-year-old girl who falls pregnant and finds herself at odds with her over-protective mother.

Scheduled to take place on Thursday evening on September 9th from 6:30 pm, Alice Pung’s author event will be held at the Hawthorn Arts Centre on Burwood Road.
