Residents of Moorabbin, Oakleigh and Bentleigh are set to benefit from the million-dollar upgrade to Dales Park.
Working in close conjunction with the District Netball Association, Kingston City Council has completed its first stage of improvements to the sporting facility. Netball courts have been re-sized to meet the standards required by Netball Victoria. Courts have also been re-aligned with a north to south orientation and training floodlights have been installed on all courts to allow for training sessions during the winter months.
Five new shelters have been constructed for spectators and 140 new car spaces ensure there is plenty of parking for competitors and spectators.
Stage two of the project is underway with a state-of-the-art pavilion in the pipeline. This pavilion will include more change rooms and toilet facilities, a bigger social space and viewing deck as well as office space.
The second stage of the upgrade will also include a warm-up netball court, new fencing and landscaping around the sporting complex. The old pavilion will be demolished to make way for these improvements.
An artist’s animation of the new pavilion can be viewed on the Council website. Organisations may make use of graphic design to create realistic impressions of their upcoming projects.
The improvement of Dales Park aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and women’s sport among Kingston City residents and will cost approximately $4.6 million.
