Moorabin residents have until the end of the today to see some of Melbourne’s landmarks at an innovative exhibit.
A number of Melbourne’s most loved sites have been replicated in a stunning Gingerbread Village, which is currently on display at the Melbourne Town Hall.
The annual exhibit, presented by the Epicure Culinary Centre, is the work of award-winning pastry chefs under the watching eye of chocolate expert Deniz Karaca.
In true festive tradition, the exquisitely designed village has been made from gingerbread and features popular landmarks such as Luna Park, the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Melbourne Town Hall, plus a few more surprise inclusions not seen in previous years.
To add to the fun, the chefs have cooked up some mischievous characters that can be seen taking in the sights of a special Christmas train and working water mill. The attention to detail has been described as “extraordinary”.
The creative display has not only been putting smiles on the faces of visitors of all ages since it opened at the start of the month, but has also been the focus of many camera buffs keen to capture the amazing scene for posterity. Many agree it would also make a great feature photograph for postcard printing to send to loved ones.
The Gingerbread Village by Epicure is a `must see’ attraction for many families each year. Entry is covered by gold coin donations, which will aid the Make-A-Wish Australia Foundation.
Visitors are also able to purchase delicious treats and special gift packs freshly baked by the chefs.
