Future seasons for netball players in Moorabbin and throughout the City of Kingston look bright with the planned major upgrade to Dales Park.

Kingston Mayor David Eden said recently that approved works will include improvements to netball facilities, formalised car parking, a new pavilion, upgraded playground and new infrastructure in the park, such as a barbecue area, exercise stations and paths.

Forming part of a major investment into the community’s facilities for women’s sport, Cr. Eden said the project will benefit an estimated 2,000 netballers playing in 160 teams from 13 different clubs across the popular Victorian city.

He said people of all ages who use the Dales Park facilities will be catered for with the latest schedule of works, which are aimed at adding to the total experience when competing, exercising or simply having fun.

The first stage of the project, valued at $2.12m, is set to begin in July this year.

Mayor Eden said the works programme will include resizing the eight netball courts to meet standards set down by Netball Victoria, together with north-south realignment for each court.

Training programmes on sporting Calendars for the winter months will be enhanced with the provision of new training floodlights, while viewers will be housed in additional spectator shelters.

The Mayor said exercise stationers, a barbecue and new playground plus will also be established as part of planned works in future stages.
