The club’s new planned home, which is expected to include a state-of-the-art training facility, an administration hub, and a club shop specialising in Corporate Gifts and merchandise such as Calendars, flags and sportswear, was reported to still require an extra $2m worth of funding in order to be completed to the standard initially planned.
With the move expected towards the end of 2017, there were concerns from the public, but the club has stated that it will not be requesting extra funding from the Victorian Government and the project is well on track.
Ameet Bains, St Kilda’s Chief Operating Officer, stated that:
“Returning to Moorabbin – with such an emotional and physical link to our history and heartland – will underpin out future success and build on our positive on our positive momentum. We have ambitious plans to re-imagine Moorabbin to create a vibrant football and community precinct.”
The Southern Football and Netball League comprises four football divisions and a netball league, plus the South Metro Junior Football League, which has around 9,500 players from under 8s up to under 18s, and is also involved in the project. The new facilities are going to provide a new home for players of all ages and levels.
