Recently adopted design frameworks for both the Western and Eastern precincts detail a vision for each area, with the ultimate aim to take what is great about Moorabbin and build upon it. The plans have been created with the help of consultation by the council with local groups, tenants, landowners and the greater community, according to Kingston City CEO Julie Reid, who added:
“This is an exciting time for Kingston. The Moorabbin Renewal project will help to transform a suburb which already boast fantastic transport links, an arts precinct and a major sports hub, into a pedestrian-friendly destination.”
Reid said having a plan for the future will assist in guiding changes towards a great outcome for all residents. The Eastern precinct will concentrate on the area between Moorabbin Reserve and the train station, while the Western precinct will focus on the mixed-use and largely underutilised area on the Nepean Highway's western side.
Works such as these can add to a suburb's ability to draw more visitors and tourists, and as such, when completed, are often included as places of interest in brochure printing campaigns aimed at promoting the local area.
The construction of a park, forming part of the Eastern Precinct works, is scheduled to begin half way through 2021.
