Community groups from Moorabbin, Victoria and surrounding area within the City of Kingston are being encouraged to apply for one of a number of grants on offer during 2016/17.
Each year the Council makes thousands of dollars available in order to assist local community groups.
The ongoing task of raising money for community service groups has often fallen on the shoulders of hardworking and dedicated volunteers who undertake a wide range of fundraising activities including the sale of Calendars, promotional Pens and lamingtons at fetes and special events.
Mayor of Kingston Tamsin Bearsley urged local groups that met the criteria to apply for funding to help them as they endeavoured to build a socially connected, healthier and stronger Kingston.
She said the organisations that service the local community made a real difference and it was something Council was proud to partner with and help achieve their goals.
There are opportunities for grants in a number of areas including up to $10,000 for community organisations and groups to stage activities that have an input into residents’ health, economic and social wellbeing.
Also on offer are $1,000 Equity and Access Grants for activities and services that focus on outcomes for indigenous communities, people with a disability and multicultural communities within Kingston, plus $3,000 to $5,000 Arts Grants, Children’s Week Grants and Youth Festival Grants.
