Geebung gears up for inclusivity workshop
Geebung locals and those in surrounding areas are invited to attend “Inclusion and belonging at the local school: the parent advocacy toolkit”, a family-focused workshop that is scheduled for February 2025.
Delivered by Community Resource Unit (CRU) and supported by the Queensland Government’s Department of Education, this workshop supports families of children and young people with disabilities to have the knowledge, information, confidence and connections they need to support their child in their education.
This face-to-face workshop is designed for parents and carers of school-age children who have a disability, with parents and carers of younger children preparing for school also very welcome.
During the workshop, attendees will learn how to unlock their child’s gifts and achieve successful inclusion at school. They’ll explore their role as an advocate, and look at what genuine inclusion looks like in the regular classroom. Together, they’ll discuss education laws and policies, and how they can collaborate with their school confidently and positively in order to achieve the best outcome for their child.
Organisers of similar workshops can use graphic design to promote their offerings in contemporary, attractive ways that draw interest and attract a wider audience.
This event is scheduled for Thursday, 27th February at the Kedron-Wavell Services Club, 21 Kittyhawk Dr, Chermside QLD 4032. The workshop begins at 9:15AM and finishes at 2:30PM. The workshop is free, but registrations are essential and close on Wednesday, 19 February at 5:00PM.
