Workers in domestic and family violence and women’s health services are being invited to attend a workshop series coming to Capalaba in March.
The workshop series will allow participants to strengthen their understanding and knowledge of working with and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Attendees will learn how the ongoing impacts of history shape culture, knowledge and contemporary practice. They will also develop awareness of personal cultural perspectives and critical self-reflection and will gain confidence in responding in respectful and effective ways.
The program will be facilitated by Rona Scherer, a MaMu and Kuku Yalanji woman who comes with extensive experience across the community centre. She is a skilled group facilitator who explains that she enjoys helping services provide inclusive and culturally safe spaces.
The linked two full-day workshops offer reflective and practical activities to support continuing learning. It will combine theory and content with self-reflective exercises and group discussions.
Organisers of community workshops like this one can use Corporate Gifts to acknowledge speakers and participants. A bespoke, practical gift can be a good way to promote an organisation’s purpose and to encourage a positive connection even after an event has concluded.
Beyond Awareness: Culturally Safe Practice in our Sector will be held on Friday, 20 March and Friday, 27 March. The venue will be Redlands IndigiScapes, 17 Runnymede Road, Capalaba. The workshops run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days. Bookings can be made through the Humanitix website.Get a Free Quote for Corporate Gifts
