The ASPIRE Circular Economy was launched by Mayor of Moreton Bay Peter Flannery recently and represents a free to use online platform that will assist commercial outlets to turn any waste from their businesses into revenue.
Flannery described the initiative as triple win in the fact that it not only creates a new way to earn money, but also takes waste away from landfill, increases business opportunities and protects the local environment. He added:
“It’s a matching service designed for businesses to exchange or purchase resources that would otherwise be discarded, so one business’s trash can now literally be another business’s treasure.”
Flannery said that by using ASPIRE's marketplace, online businesses will be able to trade their waste as a viable resource at no cost. The items could include used vehicle parts, timber off-cuts and paper items such as old Letterheads that have needed to be replaced due to a change in address, phone number or other details.
The online platform targets businesses that have less than 100 employees and sets them on a path towards a circular economy, while also connecting businesses, establishing new chains of supply, building innovative solutions and, importantly, helping all parties to recycle.
