New era dawns for policing in Caboolture

One of the largest police stations outside Brisbane CBD is on track to open in mid-2019.

Work is well underway on the new $15 million Caboolture Police Station and District Headquarters with roof sheeting and steel framework already complete, according to Police Minister Mark Ryan, who visited the site on King Street recently. Graphic design can often be used when new building projects are being planned.

When completed, the purpose-built facility will be home to General Duties, a Detective Inspector, a Patrol Inspector, Crime Prevention Unit and Intelligence, the Suspected Child Abuse Network (SCAN), Child Protection Investigation Unit, and the Criminal Investigation Branch.

Ryan said the construction is being undertaken by Badge Construction as part of the Buy Queensland initiative which promotes the use of local businesses for work on the project adding:

“I am particularly pleased the construction will support local workers in construction, electrical, plumbing, security and landscaping, which is great news for Caboolture.”

In addition, local police stand to benefit greatly from the new complex which, according to Ryan, will give them an opportunity to use new technology in a modern and innovative police station.

While work continues on the new state-of-the-art project, which is expected to take up to 12 months to complete, the original police station which is also located on King Street will remain operational to ensure the role of staff and officers is not interrupted.
