In total, 25 local community groups have been offered support from an additional allocation of $267,000, a funding funnel that Mayor of Moreton Bay Peter Flannery says provides the council with an effective way to boost the local economy and community.
The funds, Flannery added, will help support a diverse array of projects, which will include the purchase of new equipment, sport facility upgrades and the hosting of business or community events. Such investments could also include the provision of air conditioning systems, installation of solar panels or the replacement of roofs. The mayor added that:
“It will also support fantastic local activities such as mental health programmes, an equestrian trade show, Indigenous sporting and cultural events and the development of training resources to address domestic violence.”
Flyer printing campaigns have often helped to spread the word throughout the community of events such as those supported by the latest funding rollout.
The mayor said that in a first for the council, organisations such as Caboolture's Multicultural Association are being supported with their initiatives in relation to business. He added that with the extent of grants currently available, local organisations in need of funding should register with the region's Finding Finder to access the right funding options to suit their needs.
Flannery said having the Finding Finder makes it quick and easy to identify relevant funding and grant opportunities, which are all listed at the one location.
