Construction of a new Clinical Services Building and car park is soon to begin as part of the next phase of the $352.9 million redevelopment of Caboolture Hospital.
The entire project, which is expected to be completed by 2023, involves the refurbishment of already existing spaces within the hospital as well as the construction of fresh new facilities.
In the latest stage, the Clinical Services Building will stand five storeys high and is to include a rehabilitation unit with 20 beds, Palliative Care Unit (10 beds), Geriatric Management and Evaluation Unit (14 beds), Medical Ward (32 beds), Intensive Care Unit (10 beds), six operating theatres, four recovery spaces (Stage One), Cardiac Care Unit (8 beds) and Chest Pain Assessment Unit (4 beds) and a 16-bed Medical Ward.
The establishment of a multi-storey car park at a cost of $41.7m with a capacity of 1,080 spaces will take place on a site directly in front of the new building with both located between McKean Street and the existing hospital. Locals are often made aware of new facilities and services such as these via marketing campaigns involving everything from media coverage to flyer printing.
Following a scheduled starting date for construction of the Clinical Services Building and car park later this year, work is expected to be completed in about three years. The refurbishment and new build mix will cover an estimated 32,000sqm.
