The Queensland Government Response and Action Plan was recently released in response to the 2017 Better Regulation Taskforce.
According to Shannon Fentiman, Employment and Small Business Minister, the report looked at regulations governing three major industries including start-up businesses, live music and eco-tourism. It also noted that many recommendations contained in the report have already started to be implemented.
She said the aim was to make doing business in Queensland so much easier, adding:
“The report identifies priorities for government action, links with existing programmes, and outlines initiatives to shape sustainable workforce development, increase training and enable businesses to grow.”
A collaborative approach involving all levels of government would be required to implement the actions, according to Fentiman who added:
“We will investigate how we can make low risk application approvals easier, streamline the planning processes and remove repetitive reporting requirements.”
A sandbox pilot programme aimed at reducing red tape in relation to new, innovative businesses is also proposed.
