Federal funding helps fast-track local projects
The $1.5 million renewal of a skate park and $4m upgrade to a sporting complex at Morayfield, near Caboolture, are among 57 projects to be given priority by Moreton Bay Regional Council.
The announcement comes as a result of the Australian Government providing stimulus support for almost $52.5m in projects throughout the region.
Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack said the programme was designed to support businesses and local jobs, adding:
According to Mayor of Moreton Bay Peter Flannery, the funding will not only create about 800 local jobs, but will also see many projects being carried out ahead of schedule.
He said infrastructure projects will now be fast-tracked for completion before the end of the year. Flyer printing campaigns have often been employed to advise residents of any pending road works or new facilities.
The funding is also set to promote a healthy and active lifestyle for many residents by upgrading recreation and sporting facilities, such as Morayfield's skate park and the Burpengary netball courts.
A wide range of projects have been listed for work to be carried out, and they range from the upgrade of playgrounds and installation of fitness equipment to the construction of sporting infrastructure. A full list of projects is available on the council's website.
