Residents in Caboolture and across the Moreton Bay region are set to benefit from council plans to invest over $220 million in major projects within the area before 2025.
The work will incorporate six projects, which a council spokesperson said will foster creativity and help improve connectivity throughout the region.
An amount of $26.6m will go towards a proposed Knowledge and Innovation Centre at Petrie's The Mill precinct, which is expected to cost about $125m. The initial funds will include the preparation of a feasibility and planning concept, which is set to begin later this year. Often, this stage of a development includes a detailed graphic design of the proposal.
A further $38m is to be invested in creating the Dohles Rocks Connection Road at The Mill, a move that the council believes will help attract many new businesses to the precinct.
Another major project included on the council's funding list is the multi-million-dollar South Pines Sports Complex, where the next upgrade stage is set to include a $17.6m investment to help create a Roar Women's state-of-the-art Youth Academy and High-Performance Centre.
In 2022, work is also expected to begin on a major Youngs Crossing Road upgrade, while $60m is planned to be put towards easing congestion and improving conditions along busy Old Gympie Road. A further $12m has been earmarked for the expansion of the railway underpass located close to Dakabin Train Station.
