The club holds 22 permits for sports fields and has 10 leases across nine sports venues owned by the council in the region, and this latest project is the second joint venture being enacted with the council as part of a sports infrastructure collaboration.
According to Mayor of Moreton Bay Peter Flannery, the partnership with CSC dates back to 2020, and it has been given a real shot in the arm with the additional support of $1m from the State Government, along with the Federal Government’s contribution of $1.5m. He added:
“It’s allowed us to deliver a brand new $1.3 million state-of-the-art indoor cricket training facility in Caboolture and now we’re building this brand-new rugby union and touch football facility at Morayfield.”
Flannery said facilities such as these are able to make a big difference to the lifestyle and health of locals.
Flyer printing campaigns have often been rolled out at major new sporting venues such as this to help keep locals up to date with the progress of works and to heighten interest from players who may wish to join.
Work on the latest project in Petersen Road is to include the removal of the old clubhouse, which will be replaced with a totally new one complete with tiered seating, viewing decks, multipurpose change rooms, a kitchen and amenities.
