According to Jodie Shipway, Acting Mayor, Bribie Island Movement Strength Club and Samford Tennis Club will both benefit from the generous lease agreement, which is being handed out to show Council's support for the important role and contribution the clubs make to the local community.
Noting clubs’ and community groups’ integral role in the region, she underlined Council’s commitment to giving them support to help them continue to serve the community. She added:
“To help bolster the great work of these groups, it’s important that we provide them with some operational stability so these lease arrangements will be in place for the next five years."
The Acting Mayor said the lease agreements also help support a vibrant and active community environment.
Flyer printing campaigns have often helped to spread the word about many community-based organisations such as the Bribie Island Movement Strength Club, which provides strength programmes to suit a range of abilities and ages.
According to Cr. Brooke Savige, the lease agreement with the club, which also runs a popular weightlifting programme, will allow it to concentrate on boosting memberships and expanding the list of programmes on offer to keep locals healthy and fit.
