Similar events, all jointly run by the council and Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT) will also be held in Pine Rivers, Redcliffe and North Lakes. The staging of the celebrations after such a turbulent year was deemed important by Mayor of Moreton Bay Peter Flannery, who said they would include fireworks, food trucks, market stalls, entertainment and Santa. He added:
"I’m proud that we’ve been able to roll out this programme of Christmas events for our local community, with just a few changes to ensure that we keep everyone safe."
The free events, which are all family friendly, take on a slightly different look this year, according to CEO of MBRIT Shane Newcombe. He stressed that each one will be subject to Queensland Health's COVID-safe social distancing and other requirements, including the need for online registration to attend. No walk-ins on the day will be accepted.
Newcombe added that the different regulations this year are small inconveniences to endure in order to give families an opportunity to once again take part and enjoy carol singing at the popular event. Flyer printing campaigns have often assisted in alerting residents to community events such as this.
Christmas Carols will this year be held in Caboolture on November 29, North Lakes on December 6, Redcliffe on December 13 and Pine Rivers on December 20.
