Call for Australia Day Award nominations

Nominations are now being invited for local heroes in Caboolture and throughout the Moreton Bay region who help make the area a better place for everyone.

As part of the 2023 Australia Day Awards, which are typically held each year, the nominees were described as the backbone of the community by Mayor of Moreton Bay Peter Flannery.

He said the awards provide an opportunity to highlight the many selfless individuals who contribute positively to the everyday life of locals, often working quietly and without fanfare for the good of all. He added:

“We all know someone who goes above and beyond for their community whether it’s volunteering at the local sports club, organising events, raising money for charity or just supporting others by being there when they need it most.”

The Mayor also paid tribute to the many thousands of people and volunteers who came out in united support to help those devastated by floodwaters earlier in the year which, he said, showed community resilience and spirit like never before.

Previous award winners have often been highlighted in local brochure printing campaigns to put a spotlight on their tireless and important work.

Mayor Flannery said the qualities of local heroes are what make the region such a great location to live and he urged residents to nominate someone they consider worthy. Nominations can be made by until October 28th via on the Council's website.
