Bee Gees Way, which hosts the outdoor musical Gibb Brothers tribute, is to receive a $244,000 upgrade to its lighting, visual and audio infrastructure.
Mayor Peter Flannery stated that it has been more than five years since the outdoor infrastructure was first installed and the major tourist attraction had endured well amid the elements of breezes and salty sea, adding that the upgrade was essential for its long term future.
Councillor Karl Winchester explained that it was important to continue the Bee Gees legacy, adding:
“The Bee Gees hold a special place in the hearts of many in Redcliffe and it is a priority of Council to ensure these local heroes are continued to be remembered for their important contribution to the arts and entertainment industry."
After leaving Manchester, England during the 1950s, it was Moreton Bay's Redcliffe that the Bee Gees emigrated to and where they performed their first regular gig. Printing services across the world have since immortalised them on albums, Posters and publications.
The contract to upgrade Bee Gee Way, expected to be completed by mid-November, has once again been awarded to Pro Av Solutions, which installed and maintained the audiovisual installation from day one.
