The programme was kicked off with an abstract mural showcased on the outside of Redcliffe Museum.
Mayor of Moreton Bay Peter Flannery said it was the first artwork in what is expected to be a series of locally produced pieces. He said the project will also assist in driving tourism, providing support for local artists and better connecting residents with local spaces.
With so many places of natural beauty, from its stunning hinterland to pristine beaches and shorelines, the mayor believes the artistic attention to public spaces will be something people can see on a daily basis. He added:
“Public art and cultural activations lift a community and make visitors want to come back time and time again.
"We want to put our best foot forward to the world."
The work of local artists has the potential of being seen on Promotional Products and other printed materials.
The Redcliffe Museum mural was carried out by Lexie Abel, a First Nationals artist with a long history in the area. Tones and colours have been used to expressively illustrate Lexie's connection to the Redcliffe area.
