The Caboolture Region Environment Education Centre (CREEC) is home to the installations where they now feature in the all-abilities playground, which is one of the rare places that kids with disabilities are able to play unhindered within a tranquil natural environment.
Parks, Recreation and Sport spokesperson Koliana Winchester is confident the animal statues will be a big hit with all the kids saying:
“The statues will be used by CREEC staff and volunteers to educate visitors about the region’s local wildlife. Visitors are instilled with the take home message to keep natural areas and waterways clean and healthy to ensure the survival of our unique wildlife.”
She said Aussie animals included in the new animal statue display range from the koala and kookaburra to the platypus and possum.
The Environmental Education Centre is set on 18 hectares and features diverse native vegetation as well as forest trails, creeks, a eucalyptus plantation, a nursery, barbecue facilities and manicured lawns. Such venues often use promotional brochure printing to attract tourists to the region to visit.
Councillor Winchester said the animals statues will provide an added incentive for more people to visit the popular centre, which was established in 1999.
